4 Kids Receives Donation From ITSENCLOSURES
PITTSBURGH (02/12/2010) -
ITSENCLOSURES recently donated $10,000 to the 4 Kids Early Learning Network, a program of nonprofit Heritage Community Initiatives (formerly Heritage Health Foundation).
ITS President JT Spangler delivered the $10,000 check Dec. 21, 2009, just in time for Christmas. Accompanying Mr. Spangler and the check were hats for the children at the center. Earlier in the month, ITSENCLOSURES also gave 4 Kids computer equipment.
"Giving back to the community is important to us," Mr. Spangler said. "Knowing that we're making a difference and helping local children and families is a truly rewarding experience. We're excited to continue our partnership for years to come." This is the second consecutive year ITSENCLOSURES has made a significant contribution to 4 Kids. The company donated $20,000 last year and plans to continue this new tradition in the following years.
This year's and last year's donations were made in the name of the late ITSENCLOSURES employee Robert Snyder. Mr. Spangler and ITSENCLOSURES learned of the organization through Linda Snyder, a longtime friend of the Spangler family and Mr. Snyder's widow.
The ITSENCLOSURES donation was made through Pennsylvania’s Educational Improvement Tax Credit program. EITC allows businesses that make contributions for certain educational purposes to take credits of 75-90% off their state income taxes.
Michele R. Atkins, interim president and CEO of Heritage Community Initiatives, said the donation and others like it "will go a long way in helping develop future generations of participating, self-reliant citizens. Without generous donations, these children would have a much more difficult journey."
Heritage Community Initiatives (www.HeritageCommunityInitiatives.org), located in Braddock, Pa., helps the people of some of western Pennsylvania’s most distressed communities help themselves. The 4 Kids Early Learning Network (www.4KidsEarlyEd.org) enrolls about 200 children yearly and has served more than 3,500 children and their families since it was founded. The children range in age from 6 weeks to 5 years. 4 Kids not only provides a quality early education, but also helps children develop learning skills.
